During the mobility in Thessaloniki we had a workshop on 5.10.2024 guiding from the Estonian team. We practiced these activities to our students.
Sotsiometric exercises
Sociometrics is a measurement of relationships in a group of people. It can be used to unify a group of people, to vizualise the similarities
and differences among the group members.
Ask a group to form a line according to…
A: Requires visual observation: height, length of hair, shoe size etc.
B: May require communication: according to date of birth (jan 1st to dec 31st), number of children(siblings) etc.
C: Requires communication and offers an insight of peoples opinions, attitude towards a subject. This helps to visualize
similarities and differences in a group. It also increases a sense of unity and safety.
Which season is your favourite? Are you a cat or a dog person? etc.
This technique offers possibilities of a discussion afterwards. Etc please discuss in your group why your favourite season is the best
and be prepared to share it with the group.
D: Requires sense of space.
Ask your students to imagine a map of Europe/ your country/ city etc. It is easier if you give them some boarders.
“Imagine how Europe looks like on a map. Norway is up there. Ukraine is on the right, Portugal on the left and Greece is in the south. “
“Please move To your dream destination in europe. Where would you like to travel in europe. etc You may also comment
what you did there or use 1 word to explain why you wish to travel there.”
This exercise could also give opportunities to discussions among students.
After each sociometrics exercise you may ask your students to observe who is standing next to them, it could also offer possibilities to
divide people into groups for later activities.
Tossing the ball
A: First round (You throw a ball to somebody and then say your name).
B: Second round (You throw a ball to somebody and then say their name)
C: Third round (you throw a ball to a person and say the name of a person to whom the ball should be thrown next)
Making a sculpture or a picture together.
I am a tree. A person comes to the stage and says “I am a tree” and then tries to take a shape of a tree. Then, a person from the crowd who
wishes to add something to the picture, can go up to the tree and take a form of something else that they think fits to the picture e.g “I am a leaf”.
You can decide how many people can fit onto the picture or what the subject is.
Today we are going to “paint” a picture with 4 figures. After 4 figures are set and the picture is finished, the first person says,
which character stays on the stage. And the painting of a new picture starts.
Creating a group dance 15 min
You divide the participants into small groups and give them a task to think of a dance move. After every group has created their
move you all come together in a circle and start learning the dance moves one by one. Each move is repeated 3 times.
Eventually the dance moves are all put together and you may start changing the rhythm of the dance moves.
